| Welcome to Chochmat HaLev. We are a warm, welcoming and inclusive Jewish Renewal community in Berkeley California. Our name translates as Wisdom (Chochmat) of the Heart (Lev), and it reflects our heart-centered approach to community and Jewish spiritual and ethical practice.
We invite you to explore our site to learn more about our services, meditation, classes and events and Jewish holiday celebrations, as well as our programs for kids and families. At Chochmat HaLev we believe that the richness of spiritual life can be unlocked in many ways, and we therefore offer a diversity of services and programming to enable our community to deepen its spiritual practice and connect to the Divine. We have incredible music, exciting and interesting programming by engaging teachers, as well as carefully created opportunities for deep meditation. Most of all, we are a community of wonderful and caring people. We welcome single people, couples, and families of all configurations and ages. We look forward to welcoming YOU. We are led by Rabbi SaraLeya Schley and Sacred Music and Ritual Director Brian Yosef Schachter-Brooks. Chochmat is recognized for its innovative, trend-setting services and programming.
