"To contemplate..is to be plunged into the very heart of Islam, into the very Sea of Oneness. In Islam, the outer (zahir) and the inner (batin), inform and express each other. Not only are al-zahir and al-batin two of the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah, but the batini (inner, or esoteric) expression of Islam, also known as tasawwuf or Sufism, is not separated from the outer, just as these two Divine Names cannot be separated from each other. One cannot understand the one without the other; it is in this way that the Qur'an and the traditions are approached within the context of tasawwuf (Sufism)." - Ibrahim baba
Join us for this one-day course which will explore aspects of Islamic mysticism and the places of intersection and interaction with Jewish mysticism. This will be an interactive and experiential day, with music and movement, culminating in a dhikr, the Sufi ceremony of Divine Remembrance.
