Spiritual Care
Heart to Heart Committee

If You Need Assistance: If you are a member in need of congregational assistance, please contact our committee at heart2heart@chochmat.org or call the office at 510.704.9687. We will mobilize our committee and do our best to meet your needs, offer comfort and care.

If You’d Like to Volunteer: We are run entirely by congregational volunteers. If you have ideas of how to strengthen our work or are interested in volunteering, please contact Nancy Newman, the committee chair, at heart2heart@chochmat.org.

What is the Heart to Heart Committee?

What is the Heart to Heart Committee?
We are a group of community members who provide comfort and support to Chochmat members who are ill, homebound, isolated and/or otherwise in distress. We…

  • Visit the hospital, nursing home, or at your home.
  • Deliver cooked food and/or groceries when members are unable to cook or shop.
  • Drive people to and from doctor’s appointments.
  • Pick up medications at a pharmacy when someone is homebound.
  • Provide telephone contact and offer prayers to a congregant who is ill or homebound.

Building Community Through Ties That Bind
With a growing congregation, we have two sets of needs as a community:
  1. there are more congregants who are ill, injured, or aging, who need assistance;
  2. many in our community desire to channel their spirituality into genuine connections with others.

We raise sparks of the Divine by building these connections and helping one another. Through Heart to Heart, we help others as we are blessed ourselves.
