"I'm taking this course because when I was 13 the Reform Movement did not teach girls how to chant Torah. I'm now 55 and it's about time I learned! " -- Chochmat member
What's YOUR reason?
Have you ever wondered how to chant Torah? Torah chanting is based on a system of musical notation called cantillation, or trope. This class will introduce the basic system of reading and singing the cantillation notes. We will uncover the notes and begin a foundation for anyone who wants to get closer to Torah through chanting (leyning) aloud. Basic Hebrew reading skills are required for this course. If you are interested but still learning Hebrew, please contact the teacher.
This class can be a building block for an adult Bat or Bar Mitzvah
