Welcome to Chochmat Halev, a heart of Jewish spirituality in the San Francisco Bay Area
Everyone is welcome here. We want everyone to feel at home and to get the most of their experience.
We ask in the spirit of community and mutual respect that everyone help co-create an environment of
sacred space that nourishes us all. This can be done in many ways, including by:
-- joining with the rhythm of the service. Our Celebratory Kabbalat Shabbat, for example, is filled with expressive joy and ruach in the first half, and moves into quiet prayer and contemplation in the second half. Other services have a different rhythm (Visit our Prayer/Services page to learn about all our services);
-- limiting social talking and noisy activity unrelated to the service, particularly when the service gets quiet;
-- maintaining awareness of the impact the movements and expressions of everyone – adults and children of
all ages – have on each other’s physical space and safety;
-- responsibly guiding our guests and children to honor what is happening in the sanctuary;
-- continuing our community tradition of embracing G-d sparks of all forms in our sacred space, from
family, friends, and often most beautifully through our magical Chochmat kids, who help keep us all young!
May these simple steps make our already wonderful sacred
space increasingly holy!
